Kamloops Golf & Country Club to Host Canada 55+ Games
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Golf & Country Club has officially announced that they will be hosting the Golf sector of the Canada 55+ games in August 2020. The event will span over a series of four days, due to the popularity of golf. From August 25th to August 29th, the course will see golfers from all across Canada.
“Our team and facilities are outfitted to provide a professional, seamless, and memorable experience for tournaments and golf groups.” Says Membership & Marketing Manager, Meaghan Blakely. “In 2019, we revamped our tournament operation and execution process. With an incredibly successful 2019 season hosting numerous large events, we greatly look forward to the Canada 55+ games in 2020.”
On September 18th, the golf course was recognized by the PGA of BC. General Manager, Alec Hubert, was selected as the Regional Recipient for Executive Professional of the year. The course also received Golf Shop of the Year in the PGA of BC Awards. Each are in the running as provincial finalists.
The Canada 55+ games will feature athletes from all of the provinces and territories. They will compete with approximately 2500 athletes taking part in 23 to 26 sports over four days.
Other western contenders to host the 2020 games were Calgary, Fort McMurray and Whitehorse.
This will be the first time that B.C. has hosted the games.
