Alec Hubert Appointed Pro Shop Manager
It is our pleasure to annouce Alec Hubert as our new Pro Shop Manager. Alec is a Class A Professional and joins us from Fairmont Hot Springs Resort in the Kootenay region of BC. He is going to be a tremendous addition to our team and brings a great deal of playing and teaching experience with him. Alec arrives officially on July 18th and we encourage both members and guests to stop into the Pro Shop and welcome him to the Kamloops Golf & Country Club.
In 2008 Alec decided to pursue a career in golf and was given a start at the prestigious Royal Ottawa Golf Club. It was here that Alec was mentored by some of the National Capital Region’s best CPGA professionals. At The Royal Ottawa GC Alec was able to learn all of the aspects of operating a golf-shop and was able to hone his ability as an instructor. In 2011 he was awarded the Assistant Professional of the Year within the Ottawa Zone. In 2013 Alec earned Class A status within the CPGA. In 2014 Alec joined a team of instructors at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and continued to hone his craft as instructor and player. In both the 2014/15 seasons Alec won the Kootenay Pro Series Order of Merit and Tour Championships. Alec teaches students how to get the most out of their game so that they can enjoy their rounds and maintain control of the ball.
A letter to the Members & Board of Directors from Alec:
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank both the Membership and Board of Directors for giving me the opportunity to continue to grow my career at the Kamloops Golf and Country Club. It is with great xcitement that I start this new path in my career as a Golf Operations Manager. I am very excited to work alongside Brice MacDermott and the rest of the team and look forward to helping make Kamloops G&CC the premiere facility in the area.
As some of you may already know, I competed in the BC Assistants’ Championship at your club this past June. I had a very good finish but unfortunately came up a couple of shots shy of taking the Championship. Nonetheless, I almost instantly fell in love with the property and could tell that the members and staff truly take pride in their facility. It is an excellent golf course with great routing, conditioning and ambience. These things; in my humble opinion, are what makes a golf course great.
Finally, and most importantly, I look forward to the friendships that I know I’ll make. I always strive to be friendly and approachable in all aspects of my life. Thus, feel free to ask me for a golf lesson or to go play a round of golf one day. I’m a self admitted “golf nut” so I’m sure if you share my passion for this great sport we will forge everlasting friendships.
